Posted on: January 15, 2014

The Attic Youth Center, Philadelphia’s only lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) youth center, has an opening for a Group Facilitator.

The Attic Youth Center is looking for an experienced facilitator to co-facilitate the support group Young, Trans & Unified (YTU). YTU is a weekly support group open to all trans*, gender-variant, and questioning youth and young adults ages 14-23. This group is rooted in a social justice model that seeks to empower trans* youth by creating a non-judgmental space that allows them to explore identity and build community together.

At least 3 years previous work experience with youth. Ability to engage with adolescents and young adults from a wide variety of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Comfort with a broad range of gender identities and gender paths including non-binary gender identities, feminine gender identities, and masculine gender identities. Understanding of adolescent development and interest in working with people in early, middle, and late adolescence.

Co-facilitate weekly support and social group for 6-12 trans* youth and young adults, empower trans* youth to connect with each other, encourage community building, and participate in weekly planning meetings with co-facilitators. Two – three hours a week.

People of color and trans-feminine applicants are encouraged to apply.
