GreenWorks Small Business Energy Efficiency Rebate program
Posted by on May 21, 2012
The Philadelphia Commerce Department has funding remaining for the GreenWorks Small Business Energy Efficiency Rebate program for a limited number of projects. The program’s purpose is to encourage Philadelphia businesses and commercial property owners to improve the energy efficiency of their operations by investing in energy efficient processes and equipment. The program reimburses owners of commercial buildings and businesses who make energy efficiency improvements up to 50% of the eligible improvements to a maximum rebate of $10,000. In order to streamline the review process, we have amended the program’s guidelines and will only accept proposals for the following types of energy efficiency-improvement projects:
HVAC equipment
Lighting
Commercial equipment/major appliances
Electric motors
Energy management control systems
We are trying to find good projects which are ready to proceed ASAP as funding is time limtied. Completed applications must be received by the Philadelphia Commerce Department by Wednesday, May 30th at 5:00 pm. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
As before, proposed projects must reduce energy consumption by at least 20% and meet payback period requirements (10 years or less for non-HVAC projects and 15 years or less for HVAC projects). Project proposals will be evaluated by an energy consultant to determine the expected energy savings and payback period. This is a competitive grant, and proposals will be selected based on energy savings, payback, project readiness, and project feasibility. The applications still require at least two estimates for each type of improvement and at least one of the estimates must be from a minority, woman, or disabled-owned business.
Projects which are selected must be completed by July 20, 2012. No extensions will be offered.
This is an exciting opportunity for business owners who have energy efficiency projects which are ready to go. If you have any questions or require any additional information, please contact me at 215-683-2153 or email me at jonathan.snyder@phila.gov.
