SUMMARY:
The GPIC Program Director will – in collaboration with the Wharton SBDC Director, University leadership and faculty – be responsible for the Wharton SBDC’s (http://whartonsbdc.wharton.upenn.edu/) and the University’s effective participation in the Greater Philadelphia Innovation Cluster (GPIC) for Energy Efficient Buildings (http://gpichub.org). The GPIC Program Director will be a “hands-on”, professional leader and report to the Wharton SBDC Director, who serves on the GPIC Executive Board.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applying professional business tools, concepts and frameworks to support decisions by GPIC members, partners and small business owners on:
– the commercialization and development of technologies for energy efficient buildings
– the adoption, implementation, and leverage of technologies for energy efficient buildings
Coaching and teaching Wharton SBDC professionals, MBAs and Undergrad students
Planning, developing, delivering community outreach, educational programs, cases
Documenting the programs, services and achievements of the program, the participating entrepreneurs and the lessons learned to meet grant and university requirements.
Collaborating regularly with the Senior Vice Provost for Research, senior faculty and staff from across the University as well as high level executives from GPIC member companies, PA SBDC Technology Program, Innovation Partnership, economic development organizations and civic institutions to ensure the University’s and the SBDC’s effective participation in GPIC.
Others as required.
The GPIC Program Director’s primary office will be located at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. This position is contingent upon funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and organizations – entrepreneurial and large business, government, university, community – to achieve program goals.
Knowledge and practical experience base in energy efficiency and/or real estate desired.
Demonstrated ability to guide business professionals and students to apply business tools, concepts and frameworks to address business challenges and to develop results-oriented action plans
Demonstrated interest and ability to collaborate with technologists and business professionals in developing new businesses
Advanced degree in business or equivalent from a leading business school desired
6 or more years of relevant professional experience desired
Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills
