Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water Offers Grants to Fight Pollution
Deadline: February 1, 2003
The Boat U.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water ( http://www.boatus.com/foundation/ ) is a nonprofit organization that works to promote safe and environmentally sensitive boating on America’s waterways.
The foundation annually offers grants of up to $2,000 to local, nonprofit, volunteer-based organizations to support education and hands-on efforts aimed at cleaning up the boating environment. Emphasis will be placed on funding innovative ways to reach boaters and anglers with positive messages about preventing pollution before it starts.
Eligible applicant include volunteer-based organizations or local nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations, including chapters of national organizations. Government agencies, national or international organizations, and for-profit businesses or individuals are not eligible. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Power Squadrons are eligible (see specific Coast Guard application guidelines and deadline on the organization’s Web site).
