POSITION SUMMARY:

The Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC) is looking for a qualified Grants Program Accountant to join its Fiscal Department.

This individual will have the responsibility of developing and monitoring program budgets and delivering accurate reports to program leaders and funders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with program leaders to assign the development of budgets and budget modifications to program accountants as needed;
Prepare expense projections and effectively communicate issues and concerns to program managers/directors;
Prepare journal and closing entries as required;
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to program managers, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery;
Provide a high level of customer service;
Perform other duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of basic accounting principles, tax laws, and reporting requirements in general;
Experience in city and state grant accounting;
Must have experience working for a non-profit organization;
Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities;
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software;
Experience in MIP accounting software a plus.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
2-3 years of accounting experience.
