Grants for Philly elementary schools
Posted by Philadelphia Public School Giving Circle on April 10, 2017
Hello Friends of Philadelphia Public Education!
After a successful inaugural Grant cycle of the Philadelphia Public School Giving Circle (PPSGC), we have decided to hold a second round this school year. The deadline for Applicants this round is Monday, April 24th. Please consider this opportunity for your local public elementary school and pass on to others who may benefit.
And for public school supporters out there, please consider contributing to become a voting Member of the PPS Giving Circle. Being a Member is very rewarding. Last round we chose 9 worthy projects.
The PPSGC is a Donor-Advised Fund dedicated solely to providing small, timely grants to support traditional neighborhood public elementary schools in disadvantaged communities. The Circle is governed cooperatively by the group of founding and additional Donors, who will make funding decisions on a rolling basis, once or twice a school year. The PPSCG is designed as a nimble, small-grant fund to cover basic needs in those schools in which such needs are hard or impossible to cover by other means.
The typical grant will be in the $250 up to $500 maximum range. The intended grant recipient will be a principal, teacher, or leader of a Home & School or Friends group. In the inaugural round we were able to support a class trip to a play, robot starter kits, school garden supplies, bilingual guided reading books, Chromebook headphones and family fun nights among others.
Here is the link for the Round Two application!
The PPSGC is supported by The Philadelphia Foundation and the Philadelphia Crosstown Coalition. If you would like to become a Supporter and Voting Donor ($250 minimum) you can donate securely to the Fund at The Philadelphia Foundation: https://www.philafound.org/Donors/StartGiving/ContributetoanExistingFund/GiveNow.aspx?fn=The+Philadelphia+Public+School+Giving+Circle. All contributions to the fund are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
