Meacham Foundation Memorial Grant to Support Animal Care Shelter Expansions and Improvements
Deadline: February 28, 2007

Administered by American Humane (<a href="http://www.americanhumane.org/">http://www.americanhumane.org/</a>), the Meacham Foundation Memorial Grant provides financial assistance to animal care agencies for shelter expansion or improvements. Grant money must be used to increase and/or improve the quality of care given to animals.

The grant can help with projects such as kennel or cattery renovation; equipment for veterinary care; capital campaigns; and animal environment enrichment.

Grants will be made only to animal care agencies duly incorporated and classified as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or public (local government) agencies. Agencies must also be current members of American Humane at the Associate Agency Member level to qualify for a Meacham Foundation Memorial Grant. Applicants must operate and be located within the U.S. or its territories; have or plan to have a physical plant (structure) within which animals are sheltered; shelter an animal population primarily comprising dogs, cats, and/or horses; and place animals in private homes by means of an adoption program.

Grants may be awarded in any amount up to $4,000. Grant requests will be accepted from January 1 to February 28, 2007.
