Graduate Intern, Need In Deed
Posted by on March 18, 2005
Need in Deed (NID), a local service-learning nonprofit, is seeking candidates for a 10-week graduate level internship through a Summer Internship in Community Service grant from the Samuel S. Fels Fund. The intern will develop two ?issue portfolios? focusing on Youth Violence and Homelessness. The portfolios will be used in conjunction with service-learning projects carried out by teachers and students working with NID. The intern will conduct research on each issue to find appropriate ?real-life stories? and other complementary resources such as books and videos that will broaden student understanding of the issue and help reinforce curriculum connections. Using the stories as a springboard, s/he will also identify potential community partners who would be open to the possibility of supporting student projects. An education and/or service-learning background is desirable, as is an interest in education reform, civics and/or character education. Must have strong research, computer and writing skills. Interested candidates should visit the NID website (http://www.needindeed.org) for more information about our work. Resumes w/cover letters should be directed to Barbara Dundon, Executive Director, 8616 Germantown Avenue, 2nd Floor Rear, Phila., PA 19118, or via email to Barbara@needindeed.org.
