Good Schools Pennsylvania
2004 Statewide Campus Leaders Training
February 7th & 8th , 2004
Harrisburg, PA
Cost: Free! Room and board included.
Good Schools Pennsylvania is a statewide non-profit coalition of parents, students and concerned citizens advocating for comprehensive legislative reform that will ensure equitable educational opportunities for all children in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is the second worst state in the nation when it comes to educational equity, with the wealthiest school districts spending three times as much per student than the poorest districts. Every year, half our public school students fail to achieve the skills necessary for a college career.
At our third annual Campus Leaders Training, new and experienced student activists will come together to build the skills and develop the knowledge necessary to successfully mobilize their peers around educational justice.
Workshop highlights include: a performance by Brooke Haycock of the Washington D.C. based Education Trust; a lecture on Closing the Achievement Gap success stories; a skills workshop including recruitment strategies; and a presentation of the past, present and future strategies of the Good Schools Pennsylvania Campaign.
