Global Youth Service Day Planning Meeting

Posted by on February 27, 2011

Each year, on Global Youth Service Day (GYSD), children and youth around the world work with schools, youth organizations, nonprofits, community and faith-based organizations, volunteer and national service programs, government agencies, and others to address the world’s most critical issues and improve their communities.

Organized by Youth Service America (http://www.ysa.org), the event is aimed at mobilizing youth and recognizing the significant contributions that they (and youth serving organizations) make each and every day.

This year, Global Youth Service Day will take place April 15 -17.

EducationWorks has been selected by Youth Service America as a Local Lead Agency to help engage and promote young peoples’ projects  and help support the agencies who serve them. We would like you to be part of our Global Youth Service Day team!

As a Lead Agency, we will host several meetings to help you brainstorm and develop project ideas and share best practices for volunteer management. Our next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 3 at 1:00 PM. It will be held at EducationWorks, 3149 Germantown Avenue, Phila, PA 19133.

To RSVP, please contact Endeara Campbell: [email protected].

We would be thrilled for you to be part of this  campaign that celebrates and mobilizes children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service-learning. Whether you are a college student, a non-profit dedicated to serving youth, a corporate sponsor, or a student leader at your school, anyone can make a difference as a Global Youth Service Day community project coordinator!

At the meeting we will share some of the resources provided by Youth Service America and invite you to think of partnerships and collaborations that would make a great GYSD project.

We look forward to working with you and celebrating youth service through civic engagement!
