Youth Service America Invites Applications for Global Youth Service Day Minnie Grants
Deadline: October 30, 2008
The Walt Disney Company (http://corporate.disney.go.com/outreach/) and Youth Service America (http://www.ysa.org/) are accepting applications for grants of up to $500 to support child-led service projects.
Disney Minnie Grants support children (between the ages of 5 and 14) in planning and implementing service projects in their community. Teachers, older youth (15-25), and youth-serving organizations are also eligible to apply if they engage younger children in planning and implementing the project. A significant part of the service must take place on Global Youth Service Day 2009, April 24-26. Applicants are particularly encouraged to address environmental issues and seek to empower children as young citizens through their projects.
Applications are welcome from all countries. Applicants from India, China, and Russia are especially encouraged to apply. While grant program information is available in Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, applications will only be accepted in English (an online translation tool is available at the YSA Web site). Past Disney Minnie Grantees are also eligible to apply.
Application materials are available at the YSA Web site.
