Nominations Open for Global WISE Prize to Honor Education Visionary
Deadline: March 31, 2012
Nominations of individuals or groups are invited from anywhere in the world for the Qatar Foundation’s WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education) Prize for Education. Now in its second year, the annual global prize is designed to recognize world-class contributors to education at a level similar to that of other major prizes for science, literature, peace, or economics. The WISE Prize laureate will receive $500,000 and a gold medal.
The prize program seeks to honor those in any sector whose achievements have had a significant and lasting impact on education at any level and who demonstrate an inspiring and visionary approach.
Individuals and teams of up to six people are eligible for nomination.
Nominations may be submitted by individuals and institutions with a demonstrable commitment to education such as universities, schools, colleges, teachers’ organizations, research facilities, international organizations, governments, private corporations, and the media.
The nomination process should be conducted with the highest degree of confidentiality; the subject should not be aware of the nomination. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
The award will be announced at the fourth WISE Summit to be held November 13-15, 2012, in Doha, Qatar.
Visit the WISE Web site for complete program guidelines, the online nomination form, and information on the inaugural prize winner.
