General Accountant – Full-Time

The General Accountant reports to the Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting and is a member of the University’s accounting department staff, and is responsible for a variety of general accounting and financial functions, such as account reconciliations, journal entries, etc. The General Accountant is also responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial data in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

The General Accountant will assist the Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting and Controller in developing financial reports, using the Cognos Business Intelligence reporting application, for University departments to use in reviewing financial performance, as well as assist departments by providing custom reports and access to financial system data as needed.

The position will maintain strong functional knowledge of the University’s financial information system, assist in testing new system functionality and upgrades, and provides support and training to the University community.
