Gender Discrimination in the Workplace debate on Justice Talking
Posted by on January 16, 2004
As WOMENS WAY’s Change of Pace report makes clear, women have made tremendous strides over the last 25 years, yet continue to be hampered by gender discrimination in the workplace.
Kitty Kolbert and Justice Talking take on this topic, and state: Affirmative action has benefited women more than any other group. More women are going on to college than men and women are key players at the highest levels of government and commerce. If the “glass ceiling” has shattered, are laws protecting women outdated relics? Excuses for frivolous lawsuits? Rights advocates caution against anti-discrimination backpedaling citing pay equity, sexual harassment and disparate benefits as unfinished business of a movement that may be less confrontational than its 1970s counterpart but no less determined.
