Gateway To Careers website offers help to job seekers

The http://GatewayToCareers.com website is a free career management resource by JEVS Human Services, a non-profit organization in Philadelphia dedicated to helping jobseekers through skills training, job placement and career counseling services.

Site users can explore career opportunities, as well as find tips and exercises for interview preparation, career management, salary negotiation, networking, and more.

Funded by the Department of Labor, the Gateway Project is a national program designed to increase community access to jobs through online career exploration. Anyone is able to log on to the free website by inputting their email address and zip code. Users with a Pennsylvania zip code will be directed to the JEVS Human Services version of the Job Seekers’ Guide, while users outside the state of Pennsylvania will be directed to a local affiliate website.

The website offers two free resources for the local community: the Gateway Project Job Seekers’ Guide, available now as a general guide for career management, whereas the Gateway Project’s Healthcare Virtual Career Network (VCN) is scheduled to be available late summer 2011, offering a comprehensive career management portal for professions in the healthcare arena.

The Career Gateway can be used to explore career opportunities, research educational training programs; identify and access financial aid; improve job search, interview skills, and networking abilities; apply for jobs and connect with placement services. To log on, go here.
