Future Now Summit – Jun 24
Posted by Mayor's Office of Black Male Engagement on June 13, 2023
The Mayor’s Office of Black Male Engagement (OBME) and the Mayor’s Office of Youth Engagement (OYE) are partnering to put together a weekend of events in honor of the culmination of National Gun Violence Awareness Month. National Gun Violence Awareness Month exists to foster brave spaces for community and government to co-design preventative initiatives to address the epidemic of violence in our communities.
On June 24th at Girard College, we will be hosting the Future Now Summit and gun buyback space. The Summit will feature a City & community resource fair, a youth-focused panel discussion, job opportunities, refreshments, music, games, and a basketball tournament.
The goal is to foster a sense of community amongst our cities’ most underserved residents, and provide viable resources that are proven deterrents to violence: food/housing, education, jobs, healthcare/mental health services, and more!
There will also be a gun buyback space off-site so that community members can safely turn in firearms and other weapons in exchange for community resources/giftcards.
Date and Time: Saturday, June 24, 2023 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: Girard College, 2101 S College Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19121
