The Philadelphia Association of CDCs, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, will provide a briefing on September 28th from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. for PACDC’s members on funding available through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources’ (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnership Program.

Don Gephart, Regional Advisor for DCNR, will answer questions and help CDCs understand the possibilities available through this program, which provides grants for community recreation facilities and open space, parks, greenways, rails-to-trails. Funds can be spent on planning, technical assistance, acquisition and engineering/design. Applications are due this October, but there will be a second round next spring.

CDCs should be particularly interested if open space, neighborhood squares, path connections from housing to neighborhood centers, new parks are being planned as part of rehab or new construction projects. The City is working on an Open Space Plan that would open up partnering potential. John Hadalski, Management Services Administrator in the Office of the Managing Director, will discuss the City’s Open Space Plan efforts.
