Colin Higgins Foundation Offers Funding for Programs Benefiting Lesbian and Gay Youth
Deadline: June 30, 2006 (Letters of Inquiry)

Through its grantmaking activities, the Colin Higgins Foundation (<a href="http://www.colinhiggins.org/">http://www.colinhiggins.org/</a>) supports organizations that build the power and leadership of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered youth (age 13-24) through grassroots organizing and/or comprehensive leadership development; work with historically underprivileged constituencies (i.e, youth of color, transgendered, immigrant, low-income, or rural youth and/or youth in reservation communities); strive to bring about institutional change in the legal, political, economic, or cultural structures that impact LGBT youth; and work to link LGBT youth to other organizations and social-justice movements.

Organizations may apply for either general or project-specific support. The foundation will only consider Letters of Inquiry from organizations with project budgets under $500,000. Organizations with overall budgets of more than $2 million are not eligible to apply, regardless of the project’s budget size. The foundation does not award grants outside the United States or to organizations and projects whose primary work is outside the United States.

The foundation generally awards grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 each.

Visit the Colin Higgins Foundation Web site for complete program information and funding restrictions.
