Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service is accepting applications for SERVE Philadelphia 2014-2015 AmeriCorps VISTA members for our November Cohort, to serve for a period of one year on projects designed to impact community engagement, workforce development, educational attainment, youth violence and access to summer meals.

Fun, Safe Philly Summer Coordinator for the Mayor’s Office of Policy Planning & Coordination
During the 2014-2015 year, the Fun, Safe Philly Summer Coordinator will build on the achievements of the previous two years and further increase the number of free and low-cost summer programs promoted; provide better resources for young people seeking summer jobs and internships; and increase participation in the summer meals program.
Specifically, the VISTA will increase awareness of ongoing and new summer programming to youth and their families; plan the 2014 Teen Summer Jobs Fair which connects youth to summer jobs, apprenticeships and volunteer opportunities; enhance summer free meals outreach to highest needs neighborhoods; further enhance the implementation of the summer food services program and evaluate/strengthen strategies of the City’s “Fun Safe Philly Summer” campaign.
