SUMMARY:
White-Williams Scholars is seeking a full-time College & Career Advisor who will advance the program goals of individual college and career planning/awareness, academic success during the high school years and the development of personal awareness/accountability. The full-time College and Career Advisor will provide advising and resources to students and families around issues of college exploration, the college application process and career exploration opportunities. This work will happen through a multi-pronged approach of working with students individually, in small groups, through electronic communication and through partnerships with higher education stakeholders.

White-Williams Scholars has been serving Philadelphia youth for over 200 years. We provide academic, social and financial support to high achieving Philadelphia public high school students of limited financial means to build a foundation for success in college.

SCHEDULE: Full-Time, including some evenings and weekends

SUPERVISOR: Program Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Student Advising
• Meeting (individually or small-group) with students on a monthly basis to co-facilitate the components of the college application and financial aid process (i.e., application completion support, essay writing support, communicating with admissions representatives and high school counselors as needed, etc.).

College & Career Readiness/Exploration
• Plan and facilitate educational and skill-building workshops around topics of college readiness/preparation (i.e., Choosing Your Major, Paying for School, Study Skills, Time Management, College Application Completion, FAFSA Completion, etc.) for students/families in the White-Williams Scholars program.
• Plan and facilitate career-related experiences (i.e., job shadowing experiences, career assessment completion, internships, etc.) and workshops to further student growth (i.e., resume writing, effective communication, etc.).
• Develop relationships with area college/university representatives and plan on-campus college experiences (i.e., college tours, participation in college readiness events/activities on-campus, etc.) for students in the White-Williams Scholars program.
• Participate in the planning and execution of the White-Williams Scholars summer college immersion experience at an area college/university.

Other Activities/Duties
• Assist with the review and decision process for applicants to the Charles Ellis Trust for Girls during high volume times of the year (i.e., tuition season, college-related requests, etc.)

Data Collection & Recordkeeping
• Record notes/reports of the one-on-one meetings in the ETO software in an effort to track student’s overall progress and share information with other members of White-Williams Scholars team.
• Managing/tracking the college application process (i.e., applications, testing, essays, recommendations, financial aid, acceptances, etc.) of White-Williams Scholars seniors.
• Participate in and share information about students as appropriate for program data management needs.
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience in working with high school students;
Experience with student advising and the college admission process; Experience working with high school-aged students and families in an urban setting.

Minimum Education: BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Counseling, Education or related field of study. Master’s Degree in Counseling is preferred.
