Friday Forum on Immigration Issues

Posted by on September 3, 2004

Greater Philadelphia Cares invites you to a special Friday Forum presentation focused on Immigration in America and its impact on Greater Philadelphia

Effie’s (1127 Pine Street) Friday, September 17th, 6:30 pm-9:00 pm
RSVP REQUIRED*
cost: $25 (Scholarships available)

Immigration has been a controversial and divisive subject since this country?s inception. Should America welcome the world with open arms or close its borders entirely? Should stronger economic barriers be put in place to temper the existing influx of people, or should all immigrants be give the same rights and privileges at carte blanche? Just how is immigration policy established and how has it been changed by President Bush in a post-9/11 world? How does our policy impact our relationships with other countries? What are their policies toward Americans who work, visit, and study abroad?

Come join Friday Forum as we discuss issues that affect immigrants and immigration in America today. Friday Forum is a dinner discussion series that brings thoughtful people together in a casual setting to discuss important local, national, and international issues. No expertise necessary! This forum is the first in a series of three events sponsored by our National Affiliate organization, Hands on Network, and By The People, a non-profit initiative of MacNeil/Lehrer Productions, with a mission to increase dialogue on America?s role in the world.
