The Institute for Educational Excellence and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Delaware Valley Innovation Network presents
Overview
The CyberTeaming for Life Sciences seminar is a two day professional development program to foster skills in the techniques and tools of cyber teaming. The seminar presents cyber teaming as a strategic problem solving process used by teams that may be geographically dispersed by short or great distances. Cyber teaming is a new work paradigm assisted by modern technology designed to serve a global economy. It is desirable for workers to be fully competent in both the technology and the process of such a collaborative approach to problem solving when the expense and impracticality of travel to a common meeting site are precluded.
Purpose
The ability to develop and interact with shared resources is fundamental to a dynamic cooperative experience, as is called for by scientists and workers in life science industries and labs. The same approach benefits life science educators and their students in secondary and post-secondary schools. CyberTeaming for Life Sciences is a cyber teaming skills and tools seminar under development by 3e Institute sponsored by the Delaware Valley Innovation Network in cooperation with corporate partners. This seminar curriculum, fast approaching its scale up phase, is designed specifically to improve the awareness and ability of virtual team facilitators in the contexts of realistic life science scenarios.
Participants will develop a working knowledge of online communication and collaboration. During the seminar, realistic scenarios are used as hands on examples to demonstrate how to effectively manage the contributions of a virtual project team, build consensus, communicate ideas and develop solutions to shared goals.
The essential aspects of an effective online collaborative environment are the integration of multiple web components within a clearly defined framework. The CyberTeaming for Life Sciences seminar synthesizes the concepts of how Web 2.0 tools can be used to interact and to develop ideas within a virtual team environment.
Summer sessions seminars will run from July 1 through August 15, 2009
Fall session seminars will from from October 1 through November 15, 2009.
