Free Salsa Block Party/Paint Day – Aug 22
Posted by Mural Arts Philadelphia on August 17, 2021
Join us for a free outdoor Salsa/ Paint party! Masks will be provided and encouraged!
Salsa Shines Through is an interactive mural project that celebrates salsa dancing as a form of self-care during the pandemic. With or without the ability to dance in public like pre-covid times, salsa is and will always be a source of joy for many Philadelphians!
Oil painter and world renowned Salsa instructor Andres Giraldo designed the mural using screenshots of videos that local salsa dancers took of themselves, while dancing during the pandemic(check out @salsa_shines_through on instagram). He is collaborating with Philadelphia muralists Nathaniel Lee and Donna G. Kroh to paint the mural. The new Mural will be located at 1409 Howard Street(between Master and Jefferson Streets).
Panels of the mural will be set up for all ages and skill levels to take part in the mural making process! While you paint, enjoy free Salsa Lessons by Watson and Katy and 4 hours of dancing with “DJ Philly Boy on 2”! This project was curated and managed by Philip Asbury.
Date and Time: Sunday, August 22, 2021, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: 1409 North Howard Street, Phila., PA 19122
