Free Mobile Tax Prep Service

UWSEPA offers free tax prep online and in neighborhood sites

The IRS estimates that approximately 20 percent of eligible individuals and families are unaware that they qualify to receive the Earned Income Tax Credit.  This tax season, UWSEPA, the Wal-Mart Foundation, One Economy, The National Disability Institute and the Campaign for Working Families are hosting the MyFreeTaxes mobile van tour which will visit various community organizations in the region to help individuals file their own taxes for free.

In addition to the van tour, staff and volunteers from the Campaign for Working Families Mobile Tax Team are available to businesses and community-based organizations to assist taxpayers in filing their taxes at their sites. IRS-certified volunteers will work with taxpayers to help them file their own state and federal taxes.

The free service is available for all taxpayers earning less than $57,000 in 2011.

For those interested in preparing their own taxes, MyFreeTaxes offers a self-preparation tool on the web.   Through this website, taxpayers are guided through the steps of filing one’s own taxes.  For more information, visit here under the ‘Assisted Self-Preparation’ section.
