Free ESL & Citizenship Classes

Registration is open now for FREE Vocational ESL and English Literacy & Civics/Citizenship classes starting July 11th and 12th at District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund’s convenient Center City – Philadelphia location (one block from City Hall).
FREE ESL CLASSES: FOR LEARNERS OF ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
Two Programs available: Citizenship and Civics
OR Vocational ESL
Program Requirements:
• MUST take Entrance AND Exit Exams.
• Attend classes for 6 hours each week for a minimum of 65 hours.
*Program 1: English Literacy & Civics/Citizenship:
• Improve Reading & Writing Skills
• Study U.S. Government and History
• Volunteer for Community Service
• Prepare for Naturalization Test and
• Interview — Become a U.S. Citizen!
*Must be 16 years or older.
EL Civics Class Schedule: 2016
• ESL-1: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00am–12:00pm
• ECI-1: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:30pm–8:30pm
• ECI-2: Mondays and Wednesdays: 9:00am–12:00pm
• ECA-1: Mondays and Wednesdays: 9:00am–12:00pm
• ECA-2: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:30pm–8:30pm
Program 2: **Vocational ESL:
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00am–12:00pm
• Improve Reading & Writing Skills
• Practice Interviews and Write a Resume
• Prepare for the U.S. Work Place
• Volunteer for Community Service
• Meet Your Employment Goals!
**Must be work-ready, 17 years or older, and a Pennsylvania resident
Requirements for all Programs:
• MUST take Entrance AND Exit Exams — by appointment only.
• MUST attend classes 6 hours weekly, for at least 65 total hours.
• MUST bring notebook, pencils, pens, and pocket folder to class.
