The City of Philadelphia has really seen a considerable economic growth, expanding upward and outward. And yet the breathtaking skyline and booming commerce belie a population that remains the most impoverished of the nation’s largest cities. While national trends indicate a declining poverty rate on the whole, Philadelphia’s poverty rate holds at 25.7 percent–an alarming one out of every four Philadelphians.
This year features Derald Wing Sue, PhD in a keynote about microaggressions and confronting our own biases and preconceptions in daily interactions. Morning breakout sessions will provide interactive engagement with anti-racist and anti-poverty practice.
