New Job Vacancy: Food Service Trainer position for Welfare to Work Program
This position presents a unique opportunity for a professional with a cooking or food service background to work with welfare to work recipients in a small intimate setting empowering them with needed skills for the workplace needed to move individuals successfully ahead. The ideal candidate would have supervisory or teaching experience, restaurant or food service background, the capacity for menu planning and ordering an appropriate amount of food and supplies, and all skills necessary to run a small-sized cafe that mainly serves employees and some clients/ residents of People’s Emergency Center (approx 85 employees). This position is ideal for an individual who has the technical skills in food service but who is looking to use them in a different way to empower welfare recipients. Candidate must work very well with diverse staff, be firm but patient, work well independently, and be a flexible team player as some requests for meetings may come with short notice. Main functions of position are to train participants for quality entry level food service positions, cook lunches along with the participants, sole responsibility for keeping kitchen clean, supplied and safe, and handle some light catering requests from staff for functions within organization. Position offers a 9am to 5pm work schedule with some flexibility asked in the case of a meeting request (ex to come in early or stay late around a meeting time) however schedule is able to be flexed around a long day (e.g. would work less hours another day during the week with consultation with supervisor). ServSafe designation strongly desired or willingness to obtain this within first few months of hire as position involves certifying participants as well.
Salary range $29,000.00 – $43,000.00/Yearly with Comprehensive benefits package
Bachelor degree Preferred Majors include Hospitality/ Social Work/ Nutrition/ Public Health
ServSafe cert desired
