Audio Conference Series
Beginning this May, The Finance Project introduces a new series of audio conferences for program leaders, intermediaries, policymakers and funders to share their valuable ideas and experiences on financing and sustaining youth initiatives. The dates and topics for these audio conferences are listed below. Please SAVE THE DATE and plan to join us for these important information sharing sessions!
May 23, 2007. Thinking Broadly: Financing Strategies for Youth Programs. Sustainability is more than effective fundraising and budgeting. While well-established, national youth programs often have an infrastructure that builds the capacities for sustainability into their affiliates, smaller youth programs rarely have this support, and struggle to sustain themselves from year to year.
This audio conference is intended to assist program developers and intermediaries, community organizations and policymakers by outlining an array of approaches to finance youth programs and initiatives. It presents general principles to guide the selection of financing strategies and considerations to help state and local leaders develop financing plans that closely align with their program goals, available resources and the political and economic environments in which they work.
Speakers:
? Cheryl D. Hayes, Executive Director, The Finance Project will provide an overview of financing strategies, considerations for using these in your organizations and discuss key players that you need for success.
? Robin Minter, Deputy Executive Director, Heads-Up will discuss ways in which this afterschool tutoring and mentoring program employs creative techniques to make better use of existing resources.
? Hillary Salmons, Director, Providence Afterschool Alliance will discuss how this intermediary has worked to create more flexible funding through improvements in data collection and coordination.
