Film screening: Finding Fela
Posted by Nobody's Collective on January 19, 2015
The Nobody’s Collective is hosting a ONE NIGHT ONLY “Finding Fela” film screening in Philadelphia on January 29. This documentary is based on the life of an incredible musician, Fela Kuti, who used music as a weapon to fight against the oppressive military state in Nigeria. To learn more about the film and watch the trailer you can visit: http://findingfela.com/.
Finding Fela tells the story of Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s life, his music, his social and political importance. He created a new musical movement, Afrobeat, using that forum to express his revolutionary political opinions against the dictatorial Nigerian government of the 1970s and 1980s. His influence helped bring a change towards democracy in Nigeria and promoted Pan Africanist politics to the world.
The film will be screening at:
Ritz at the Bourse
400 Ranstead St.
January 29, 7:30-9:30pm
Tickets are $15, and can be purchased online at: https://www.tugg.com/events/12736
In order to host the film in Philly we will need to meet our goal of 110 tickets sold by January 19. So spread the word to your friends and circles and I hope to see you there!
