Federal Work Study and Community Service
Posted by on February 28, 2004
As many of you know, the Federal Work Study and Community Service mandate of 7% has created many new and interesting opportunities for colleges and universities to engage students in public service. It has also created many questions and challenges.
On April 1, 2004, the Pennsylvania Campus Compact will host a one-day workshop on Federal Work-Study and Community Service practice. Erin Boley, the author of “To Serve the College or the Community: Results from a study on Community Service Federal Work Study” will facilitate the day’s event. I encourage you to bring a team of people to the event where Erin will share results of her study and best practices from around the country.
Details about the day are available at http://www.paccompact.org. As always, I will be glad to answer any questions.
Dr. James Birge, Director, PA Campus Compact
