Posted by on June 15, 2009
Brief Features Family Health History Resources
Family Health History: Resource Brief contains information about federal agency Web sites and other resources that provide information about factors that contribute to an individual’s risk for developing diseases. The brief, produced by the MCH Library at Georgetown University, contains information on the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle causes of disease that family members may share. Sample resources include tools and guidelines for compiling a family health history, booklets on genetics and health (in non-English languages), public service announcements, a family health questionnaire, and a public health campaign on the importance of family health history. Additional resources address news, research findings, clinical trials, conferences, and demonstration projects. Information on genetics and genetic services, including newborn screening, is provided. The brief is available at http://mchlibrary.info/guides/familyhistory.html.
