Family Health Educator

The Family Health Educator’s primary role is to serve as the lead organizer and instructor for the Healthy Movimiento for Families Research Project. This position will be required to coordinate and implement culturally competent nutrition and physical activity sessions, recruit families for participation, organize and collect data in  alignment with the program’s research design, and support the program coordinator with curriculum and program development. In addition, the Family Health Educator will occasionally participate in health education workshops, outreach efforts and events.

The Family Health Educator will have internal contact with the entire administrative staff and external contact with clients, community resources, and the community. This position has access to sensitive Congreso information and is expected to handle such information with integrity and professionalism. This position has regular contact with members of the community and is expected to represent Congreso in a professional manner.

Minimum Experience:  1-2 years experience in community health or nutrition education, or other health promotion and education services. 2 years public speaking and group facilitation experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Minimum Education:  Associates or bachelors degree in nutrition, health education or related field preferred.

Certification/License:  Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Nutrition & Wellness Consultant certificate, group experience or fitness certificates, (i.e. Zumba, ACE, AFPA, ACSM) or related certificates a plus.
