Community Women’s Fund
Posted by on July 22, 2013
Each June, WOMEN’S WAY hosts its Women’s Issues Summit which brings together individuals representing scores of organizations in our region that are working to improve the lives of women and girls through direct service programming and advocacy work. The Summit allows us to hear what is happening on the ground in terms of pressing issues and needs. We use the information from the Summit to design a framework for the work that we will focus on in the year ahead particularly with respect to our Community Women’s Fund grant making, public education programming and advocacy work.
Our 2013 Community Women’s Fund funding priorities reflect the issues and themes that emerged from the Summit on June 4, 2013. With the Fall 2013 grant cycle, we are seeking to support work that addresses one or more of the following areas outlined below. All priorities will be given equal weight in the decision-making process. We are especially interested in funding requests that impact vulnerable and marginalized populations (e.g. low-income, elderly, LGBTQ, disabled, immigrant, incarcerated women, etc.) and those organizations engaged in both systemic advocacy and direct services.
Violence Prevention/Mitigation: Programs and services for victims of violence and initiatives addressing and mitigating a culture of violence; particularly, through culturally competent education programs and work that places violence prevention/mitigation within the framework of larger public health movements.
Economic Self-Sufficiency and Justice: Organizations and programs that promote economic justice and self-sufficiency; particularly those focused on jobs/workforce development for marginalized women.
Health Care: Organizations and programs addressing issues of access to health care particularly those addressing coverage gaps and affordability.
Reproductive Freedom and Justice: Organizations and programs addressing access to reproductive healthcare and reproductive justice; particularly work that establishes a framework around reproductive freedom as a human rights issue.
Leadership of Girls and Young Women: Organizations and programs helping girls and young women develop healthy self-image and leadership skills; particularly programs that provide a platform for girls and young women to lend their voice to outcomes and outputs related to the policies and systems affecting them.
Collaborative programming: Programs that address one or more of the above priorities through collaborative or coalition work
Letter of Intent is due Thursday, August 15th
