Facility Assistant, BTOP Grant Implementation

Background
Founded in 1972, PEC is a comprehensive homeless services provider and experienced nonprofit community development agency based in West Philadelphia. The agency employs nearly 90 staff to serve its community and constituents through social services, counseling, case management, commercial corridor revitalization, community organizing and quality affordable rental housing.

The Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) is a federally funded program that expires June, 2013.

Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED is required
Minimum of two years experience in computer support is preferred
Sensitivity to, and experience with urban and low income populations
Strong interpersonal skills
Superior Customer Service is a must
Ability to communicate clearly with computer users, community members and staff
Experience working with MS Office applications, including Excel and Word
Working knowledge of Internet

Reports to: Manager, BTOP Grant Implementation

Responsibilities
The Facility Assistant, BTOP Grant Implementation, is responsible for monitoring a public computer center and provide basic support to computer users. The qualified candidate will also be responsible for providing Tier-1 technical support services and reports to the Manager, BTOP Grant Implementation.

Duties include: Instruct and assist computer users on accessing online resources: educational, job-related searches, heath information, etc. Ability to troubleshoot basic computer problems; access technical support when needed Record, collect and report data on computer lab usage

Benefits:
This is a part-time position, 15 hours per week; not eligible for benefits.
