ENROLL AMERICA AND THE CAMPAIGN FOR WORKING FAMILIES PARTNER TO HELP TAXPAYERS GET COVERED DURING THE TAX FILING SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD
Enroll America and Campaign for Working Families will co-host more than a dozen tax prep/health insurance enrollment events during the tax filing special enrollment period
The Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment period has passed, but many uninsured Pennsylvanians still have the opportunity to get quality, affordable health coverage now through a one-time tax filing special enrollment period, which runs from March 15 through April 30.
This one-time opportunity is open to those who do not have health insurance through the marketplace, didn’t know how the fine would affect them, and are subject to the fine on their 2014 taxes. People who meet these criteria will have a chance to sign up for coverage starting March 15 through April 30 thanks to the new tax-filing SEP.
Campaign for Working Families and Enroll America will offer more than a dozen tax prep/health enrollment events that will allow eligible consumers to file their taxes and sign up for health insurance at one location.
“Many of our tax customers did not know that they would be fined for not having health coverage when they filed their taxes this year. Now we can offer them a second chance to get health care and avoid a bigger penalty in 2015. We thank Enroll America for offering their services at our tax sites,” said Mary Arthur, executive director, Campaign for Working Families.
“Enroll America is excited to partner with Campaign for Working Families during this tax filing special enrollment period. The special enrollment period is a great opportunity for those who are subject to the fine on their 2014 taxes and didn’t understand how the fine would affect them,” said Julia Cusick, Pennsylvania Communications Director for Enroll America. “They will have a chance to sign up for coverage between March 15 and April 30. A new McKinsey study released last week showed that 41 percent of the currently uninsured are still unaware of the penalty, so we know that there are a lot of people who can benefit and we are excited to reach out to them.”
