The YMCA of Delaware is Delaware’s largest non-profit organization committed to strengthening the citizens of Delaware through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Our community impact continues to grow. The YMCA of Delaware reaches one in every eight Delawareans throughout the State of Delaware. The Western Y is part of this dynamic and progressive $40 million Y Association and is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced executive director who will have the unique opportunity to lead change and innovation, and to work with staff to develop new and exciting programs.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Branch including, 25 full-time and 350 part-time employees, 5700 member units and a budget of $6.8 million. This position will continue to develop and strengthen community wide relationships with donors, plus various service organizations. The Executive Director is also expected to aggressively support the YMCA of Delaware’s strategic goals. Qualified applicants must have experience working with Boards, supervising government contracts, management of fund-raising campaigns, strategic planning, staff leadership/development plus a proven record of successful fiscal management specifically in the areas of membership and program growth.
Our programs and services promote four core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility. These programs include: child care, youth sports, swimming, camping, gymnastics, teen, family and senior adult programs, health and fitness, and volunteerism.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years in a role of executive director with demonstrated experience in supervision of staff, membership marketing, financial management, fundraising and community program development.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success directing total operations through volunteer development, monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations and program development. Experience with computers including word processing and database software. The ability to work effectively with people and to respond to safety and emergency situations. YMCA Director experience and certification preferred. Bi-lingual preferred.
