THE VILLAGE OF ARTS & HUMANITIES SEEKS AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Village of Arts and Humanities is a non-profit organization dedicated to building community through the arts in an African American neighborhood in North Philadelphia. Implementing its motto of "together we build", the Village has won national awards for its visionary approach to urban revitalization and has won regional fame for its grass roots arts collaborations. The Village seeks a dynamic and passionate individual as the Executive Director who will provide a new vision to build on the existing programs in arts education, youth theater, urban gardening, housing rehabilitation, and community and economic development.

As the guiding force of the organization, the Executive Director has primary responsibility for developing the organization’s goals and realizing the organization’s long-range plans. The Executive Director manages a three-person management team, as well as a staff of 20 employees. The Executive Director works closely with an active Board of Directors to strategize for the growth of the organization and plan for its financial stability. Fundraising activities are critical to the continued success of the Village, and are conducted by the Executive Director in conjunction with the board and development director. In addition to implementing the mission of the organization, the Executive Director represents the organization to the public, initiates and maintains personal contact with funding agencies, and with civic and community leaders. The Director must possess a proven track record of leadership, management and fundraising experience.
