Spiral Q Puppet Theater (<a href="http://www.spiralq.org">http://www.spiralq.org</a>) is in search of an Executive Director to lead this community-based arts organization. Committed to a progressive social change mission, Spiral Q works with dozens of artists, educators, activists, schools, organizations, and neighborhood groups throughout the city. The Executive Director, under the direction of the Board of Directors, has primary responsibility for fundraising (including proposal writing), fiscal management, community relations, and managing programs in fulfillment of the organization?s mission.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader with demonstrated experience in building effective relationships with a range of organizational partners, including funders, civic leaders, community representatives, peer institutions, schools, and neighborhood associations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong fundraising, marketing, and revenue-generating capabilities; exemplary interpersonal and networking skills; and the demonstrated ability to understand and work with diverse constituencies. A passion for the arts and familiarity with community-based work are essential. At least five years experience as a leader or senior manager in the nonprofit sector is required. Familiarity with the cultural community and neighborhoods of Philadelphia is preferred. Experience with theater, activism, or education is also preferred.

This position reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors. Salary range is $35,000 to $50,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The position is available at the end of April, 2004.
