The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education (SCEE) seeks nominations and applications for the position of Executive Director.   Founded in 1965, SCEE is one of the first urban environmental education centers in the country.  SCEE’s 350 acres of permanently protected fields, forests, and ponds are a learning laboratory within the City of Philadelphia for more than 15,000 children and adults each year.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director provides strategic direction, leadership, and administration to all aspects of SCEE.  The Executive Director oversees approximately twenty professional staff and a sizeable and active community of volunteers.  The Executive Director has fiduciary responsibility for a budget in excess of $1.3M.  The Executive Director will be expected to lead substantial development efforts.

Requirements include a commitment to the mission of SCEE and demonstrated knowledge and ability to address the issues of environmental education.  Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with wide-ranging constituents and a capacity to build and sustain a coalition comprised of many stakeholders.  Proven success in staff and volunteer leadership required as is demonstrated fundraising and development experience.
