Executive Director, Philly Student Union

Philly Student Union (PSU) is looking for an Executive Director.

The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing an annual budget of $450,000, and approximately 4-5 full time staff members and 2 consultants. To sustain the work of PSU, the ED is responsible for maintaining relationships with funders as well as seeking out a mix of fundraising sources from foundations to individual donors. This will be important to the success of this role and sustainability of the organization.

Some of the responsibilities include:

Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Create and execute short and long term strategic program and organizational plans.
  • Work with program staff and PSU students to define short and long term program goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, school officials, local/national coalition partners and other PSU supporters.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the community, citywide, statewide and nationwide for PSU.
  • Report to, interact with and support PSU’s Board of Directors; act as liaison between Board and staff.
  • Build and maintain plan for staff development offerings internally (trainings, political education study) and external (organizing and facilitation trainings)

Development and Fundraising

  • Work with Development Coordinator/Consultants and Board to cultivate and monitor PSU’s fundraising strategy, including foundation grants, local grants and individual donations.
  • Work with Individual Donor Coordinator/Consultant to maintain communication with donor contacts, cultivate donor prospects, and work in conjunction with the individual donor campaign.
  • Engage and collaborate with PSU’s Board on fundraising including reporting scheduling and editing support as needed.
