Position: Executive Director of Philadelphia City Sail
Mission: Philadelphia City Sail, Inc. is a (PCS) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, educational organization that inspires Philadelphia area youth to value themselves and their education, with a focus on reaching underserved populations. Through sailing and maritime topics, students gain hands-on experiences while learning about the environment, science, mathematics and maritime arts. Philadelphia City Sail empowers youth to think critically and act responsibly as they expand their world view.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume the leader role of PCS with the main objective of operationally running the organizational as required to meet its mission and grow. As the figurehead of the organization responsibilities include:
? Develop the strategic plan and vision for operation and growth of the organization.
? Solicit and obtain funding from potential individual, corporate, and foundation grant donors.
? Oversee the application for, administration of, and reporting on grants and donations from public and private sources, including management of grant-writing staff.
? Maintain working relationships with client schools, funding sources, and other scientific, educational, community, and cultural organizations in the Delaware Valley.
? Plan, coordinate, administer, review, and evaluate the year-round operations of PCS.
? Develop and administer the annual budget.
? Oversee staff and recruit additional personnel as needed as supported by funding.
? Develop and administer operating, personnel, and organizational policies and procedures.
? Meet regularly with, obtain direction from, and provide periodic reports to the Directors.
? Attend all monthly Board meetings
? Solicit volunteers and manage volunteer services.
? Develop and initiate new fundraising programs
? Increase public awareness of PCS? programs through marketing and public relations
? Establish clear program objectives and measurements of success.
? Initiate a program of continual improvement.
Required Qualifications:
? Demonstrated philanthropic and fundraising success such as endowments or annual giving, and demonstrated ability to make contacts in the Delaware Valley area.
? Track record of success in foundation grant applications
? Experienced in developing, managing, and reporting in a annual budget
? Demonstrated capability and a minimum of five (5) years experience in successfully implementing the responsibilities described above in a non-profit or applicable business environment.
? Excellent personal communications skills and ability to give quality presentations to funding sources, and present other written/oral information.
? Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university.
? Excellent computer skills including MS Office software, accounting software, web page management.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
? Educational background in the K-12 level
? Work experience with underserved populations
? Maritime knowledge, particularly sailing, navigation, boating
? Natural Sciences training or education
? Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish).
Compensation:
? Commensurate with experience ? Up to $75 plus benefits
