Executive Director, Mt. Airy CDC

Posted by Mt. Airy CDC on September 7, 2021

Mt. Airy CDC is excited to announce that we’ve begun accepting applications for our executive director position.

For over 40 years, Mt. Airy CDC (MACDC) has been delivering on its mission to preserve, empower, and enrich a vibrant and diverse Mt. Airy.

The organization got its start in 1980 as the Mt. Airy Village Development Corporation, an outgrowth of a collaboration of East and West Mt. Airy neighbors who had tired of blighted and dilapidated buildings on Germantown Avenue, the community’s business corridor. The organization successfully acquired, rehabilitated and transformed these neglected commercial properties into income-producing properties owned and operated by local neighborhood merchants.

In the 1990s, the organization became known as Mt. Airy USA and added Housing Counseling to its list of services. In 2002, the organization cut the ribbon on its current home, a major commercial building on Germantown Avenue housing the organization’s offices, as well as a post office, a bank, a diner, and additional office space upstairs.

In 2019, the organization changed its name to Mt. Airy CDC to better reflect the work it does as a Community Development Corporation. We currently work to fulfill our mission through four program areas: 1) Real Estate & Infrastructure, 2) Housing Counseling, 3) Business Services, and 4) Community Programs.
