Executive Director, Life Science Cares Philadelphia
Posted by Life Science Cares on July 6, 2021
Life Science Cares is a collective effort of the life sciences industry to reduce the impact of poverty on our neighbors. With over 350,000 Philadelphia residents living below the poverty line, Life Science Cares Philadelphia (LSC PHL) is committed to uniting the life science community and providing human and financial resources to nonprofit organizations that support survival, education and sustainability. LSC PHL has a particular focus on combatting generational poverty through training and education, connecting youth and college students with science- and technology-based experiences such as classroom discussions, workshops, mentorships, career guidance, and paid internships. LSC PHL puts the true good that local life science companies represent into action — not just for human health, but for human potential.
During the first year of operations in 2020, LSC PHL:
- established a strong board and board of advisors
- created opportunities to “care actively”
- raised and granted $300,000 for emergency COVID relief
- selected 14 nonprofit partners and granted $270,000
In addition to the founding site in Boston and our local Philadelphia organization, Life Science Cares now has sites in San Diego and the Bay Area in California.
