EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Empowerment Group seeks outstanding candidates interested in serving as its Executive Director. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who is resourceful, original, bold, energetic, dedicated, and passionate about entrepreneurship and economic development in low income communities.

About Empowerment Group

Founded in 1999, The Empowerment Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of entrepreneurship and a thriving local business community in building self-sufficiency and creating wealth in Philadelphia?s economically distressed neighborhoods. Based in the Kensington section of North Philadelphia, home to one of our region?s largest Hispanic populations, EG offers a fully-integrated business skills curriculum to existing and aspiring adult entrepreneurs as well as a program designed to expose local youth to entrepreneurship and business planning. Our bottom line is the creation of positive, lasting change for our clients, their families, and their community.

Basic Functions
The Executive Director has chief responsibility for the development of organizational funding and management/oversight of day-to-day organizational operations, including: managing a skilled staff of full and part-time professionals and contract consultants, program planning, and implementation of the organizational strategy and ultimate fulfillment of EG?s mission.

Working with a passionate, diverse board of directors, The Empowerment Group?s next Executive Director will be instrumental in both shaping and implementing Empowerment Group?s strategic direction as both the organization and its role as an advocate for local entrepreneurs continue their rapid growth trajectories.

Desired Qualifications
? Proven ability to lead, as demonstrated through a minimum of five years of leadership/managerial experience in either the for- or non-profit sector
? Proven ability to manage growth/thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, as demonstrated through experience managing and growing a program and/or organization with a minimum annual budget of $200,000
? Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and experience developing relationships and/or partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, public speaking, and advocacy
? Proven success with researching, writing, and implementing small and large scale grant proposals
? Familiarity with financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and high-level financial statement analysis
? Proven commitment and/or strong background in promoting economic development in low income communities
? B.A./B.S. degree in business or related field required; M.S./M.A. in business, non-profit management or related field preferred
? Bilingual (English, Spanish) candidates preferred
