Job Description – Executive Director
The newly formed Mercer County affiliate of Dress for Success (DFS) seeks a dynamic and energetic individual to serve as the founding Executive Director. DFS Mercer County?s mission is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help these women thrive in work and in life. This position, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, will initially be part-time position and is expected to transition into full-time. The Executive Director?s primary responsibility is for the overall leadership, management, and operations of DFS Mercer County to ensure that client needs are met in an effective and efficient manner. In addition, the Executive Director will develop and manage the organization?s budget, manage the office/boutique, and supervise staff and volunteers.
Responsibilities
Program Development and Community Relations
? Work with the board, staff, volunteers, and sponsors to define and implement the strategic plan of the organization.
? Cultivate and maintain successful relationships with Dress for Success Worldwide, other DFS affiliates, partner programs, referring agencies, local government, educational institutions and other relevant partners of DFS Mercer County.
? Promote awareness and visibility of DFS Mercer County through a variety of forums, including public speaking, media (radio, television, newspapers, magazines and others) and other means of communication as needed.
Operations and Finance
? Oversee the administration of the organization, the office and boutique.
? Create an annual budget for board review and approval.
? Monitor the fiscal performance of the organization and keep the board apprised on a monthly basis.
? Establish a multi- year fundraising plan to generate operating funds.
? Approve expenditures within board-approved budget and guidelines.
? Oversee information systems development and maintenance.
Personnel Management
? Create and support the organizational team structure and foster leadership development among paid staff and volunteers.
? Hire, supervise and evaluate paid staff.
? Oversee the DFS Mercer County volunteer initiative.
? Work with the Board of Directors to develop, implement and monitor personnel policies and employee benefit plans to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
? Manage and oversee the Program Director and the Professional Women?s Group Coordinator.
Qualifications
? Minimum of 5+ years experience (or equivalent) working within nonprofit sector including supervising staff and working with a Board of Directors.
? Bachelor?s degree/ Master?s degree, highly desirable.
? Knowledge of community based and public sector organizations dealing with job training/readiness.
? Working knowledge of nonprofit fiscal management, including accounting and bookkeeping principles.
? High level of maturity as well as high level of energy and passion for serving women.
? Demonstrated experience in fundraising with proven ability to raise funds from a variety of sources.
? Demonstrated ability in public speaking, written and oral communication and interpersonal relations
? Computer skills ? Microsoft Word, Excel, email
? Ability to work with people from culturally and socio-economically diverse backgrounds
