JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
COLOURS, a program of the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition (GPUAC) is currently looking for an individual to fill the position of Executive Director. COLOURS is a culturally competent social services program committed to the sexual and gender minority communities of color. The program?s expertise in the area of cultural competence, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues and HIV/AIDS prevention and care services has been recognized by various health and social service groups.
The individual selected for this position will manage the daily operations of the COLOURS program. This individual will have extensive experience in HIV/AIDS awareness and service activities for people of color.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop a strategic plan for the enhancement of COLOURS.
o Recruit, train, and develop administrative and volunteer staff.
o Develop, implement, and update the program?s policies and procedures.
o Develop and implement community educational trainings, workshops, and forums for adult/youth at risk populations.
o Consolidate COLOURS existing program into a coherent coordinated initiative.
o Maintain and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for all program activities.
o Assure integration of adult/youth-oriented activities into COLOURS overall organizational framework.
o Collaborate with other area community based programs who seek to serve minority adults/youths.
o Obtain ongoing financial support for COLOURS activities from public, corporate, and other philanthropic sources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor?s degree in a health or social science field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Prior program management and supervisory experience.
o Prior experience working with people of color.
o Prior experience working with sexual and gender minority communities.
o Demonstrated understanding of HIV/AIDS related issues.
o Demonstrated understanding of the cultural and ethnic diversity of people of color.
o Knowledge of HIV/AIDS service systems and related social services.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
o Familiar with community resources and referral services.
o Ability to present information to community groups and reach out to community residents.
o Strong computer skills, including word processing, database, and graphic design.
o Ability to document activities and maintain accurate program records.
