Executive Director, Big Picture Philadelphia – Dec 7

Posted by Big Picture Philadelphia on December 1, 2020

Organizational Overview

Big Picture Philadelphia (“BPP”) provides a project-based, student-centered, education to more than 600 students at two Philadelphia public high schools, and, in so doing, promotes student-centered learning in Philadelphia more broadly. BPP’s schools prioritize small class sizes, internships, career connections and post-secondary support. In all of the above, our mission is to provide alternative and transformative educational experiences for under-served high school youth. In doing so, we also intend to contribute to Philadelphia’s city-wide educational improvement efforts.

BPP’s first school, El Centro de Estudiantes, is an alternative school for students who are over-aged, under-credited, and ready to return to school to earn their diploma. BPP’s second school, Vaux Big Picture High School, is a neighborhood high school serving grades 9-12.

Role Overview

Reporting to the BPP Board of Directors and working collaboratively with the School District of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Housing Authority, the Executive Director will provide leadership to a dynamic educational organization that has emerged as a catalyst for innovative urban education. To that end, they will advance BPP’s educational mission while promoting its vision both internally and externally. The Executive Director will be charged with helping to lead the strategic direction of BPP. They will oversee day-to-day operations, fiscal affairs, and faculty/staff development and management. Key to the success of this position will be the ability to raise funds to support operations, programs, and capital projects. Likewise, this individual must possess the skills to continue building BPP’s profile, while developing strategic alliances with public, private, and community partnerships.
