Points of Light Foundation Invites Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs
Deadline: October 17, 2003
In partnership with several major national business and nonprofit organizations, the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network established the Awards for Excellence in Corporate Community Service in 1993 (now the Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs) to recognize businesses of all sizes and of all industries that meet in an exemplary way the Principles of Excellence for Workplace Volunteering. The awards are designed to honor a business’s overall employee/retiree volunteer effort, including the actual community service projects and the program policies and corporate vision that support those volunteer activities.
Approximately six awards will be presented to the most outstanding employee volunteer programs. Based upon the nominations received each year, companies are categorized by similar scope and size and judged accordingly. Special recognition citations may also be presented to other businesses. Companies with a recently established employee volunteer program are encouraged to apply and will be judged accordingly.
Any small, medium, large, or international business that has an established and company-supported employee/retiree volunteer program directed toward addressing the community’s serious social problems is eligible. A business can be a private or public organization.
Anyone may nominate a business for the Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs. The nomination may be made by the business itself, a nonprofit organization, a Volunteer Center, a government agency, an interested individual, or any beneficiary of the employee volunteer efforts.
See the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network Web site for complete program guideline and to download the nomination form.
