Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (http://www.otsuka.com/) has announced its support of the new Minority Mental Health Awards program, established by the American Psychiatric Foundation, a charitable and educational subsidiary of the American Psychiatric Association.
The awards will recognize psychiatrists and other mental health professionals and mental health programs that have undertaken innovative and supportive efforts to raise awareness of mental illness in minority communities, the need for early recognition, the availability of and cultural barriers to treatment; increase access to quality mental health services for minorities; and improve the quality of care for minorities, particularly those in the public health system or with severe mental illness.
The American Psychiatric Foundation will recognize two recipients with an award in the amount of $5,000. Additionally, award winners and their programs will be recognized at the APA’s semi-annual meetings.
