The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has been a visionary not-for-profit organization in the Greater Philadelphia Region since its founding in 1827. PHS organizes the annual Philadelphia International Flower Show, the world’s largest and longest-running indoor flower show, which brings 250,000 visitors and creates a $61 million economic impact to the city. PHS’s Philadelphia Green helps transform lives through revolutionary programs like City Harvest, which has grown and donated 77,000 lbs of fresh produce in three years—helping to feed 1,000 families each week of the growing season. PHS will also lead the new Plant One Million, an ambitious program to plant one million trees in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Events Manager will be responsible for managing and coordinating the implementation of small-mid size events for all Pennsylvania Horticultural Society business lines. This role will also provide support for the major annual events set forth in the Strategic Playbook. Evening and weekend work will be a significant requirement for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Track and manage budget and timeline for individual events to support departmental revenue goals and overall expectations for the event
Implement a year-round plan of cultivation activities and stewardship plans for donors and prospects, in conjunction with Development Department
Collaborate with PHS program staff to support implementation of seasonal corporate volunteer activities
Manage satellite events at the Philadelphia International Flower Show, serving as primary liaison with outside vendors (i.e. PCC and Aramark), as well as contracted hospitality clients.
Facilitate the execution of tri-annual Meadowbrook Open Houses, collaborating closely with Meadowbrook staff, PHS marketing team and merchandising department.
Assist in design and execution of awards programs such as Community Greening Awards, City Gardens Contest, Flower Show and all other PHS major awards.
Provide support and resources for major annual events, such as Kids Grow Expo, Fall Garden Festival, PHS Community Brunch and Preview Night at the Flower Show.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with all vendors who can support PHS events year-round.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Passion for PHS mission
Excellent writing and communication skills
Demonstrated experience in managing a variety of special events
Strong project management and organizational skills, with considerable attention to detail
Exceptional interpersonal skills both internally and externally
Strong crisis management and negotiating skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software. Raiser’s Edge preferred, but not required
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field of study; 3-5 years special event planning/implementation experience
